3D Onion Skinning
Developer: Cosmo Mídias
Blender add-on that bakes ghost poses from the frames around the current one, to show spacing and timing in 3D.
What 3D Onion Skinning does
3D Onion Skinning is a Blender add-on by Cosmo Mídias that brings onion skinning to 3D animation. Using geometry nodes, it bakes ghost copies of frames that come earlier and later than the current one, giving you a clearer read on spacing and timing.
You choose how many frames to show and what colors to use. The display refreshes when you change frames with the arrow keys or scrub the timeline, and when you add, remove or move keyframes or graph handles, but it avoids updating during playback. Ghosts show up in Solid and Render views as translucent materials you can customize.
Key features
- Ghosts for earlier and later frames
- Customizable frame counts and colors
- Auto-updates on frame change and keyframe edits
- Skips updates during playback
- Solid and Render mode display with translucent materials
