Blender add-on for molecular and cellular visuals: imports PDB structures, builds membranes and scatters molecules.

What Bio-Art Blender does

Bio-Art Blender, by Julian Melendez, targets precise molecular and cellular visuals. Type in a list of PDB IDs and it fetches ligands, proteins, DNA and RNA from the Protein Data Bank, tidying the meshes and preparing them for 3D printing.

Five display presets (surface, cartoon, balls and sticks, and sphere or cube modes in several quality levels) are included, geometry nodes produce membranes, and molecules can be scattered over surfaces. Scientists, educators and medical illustrators can use it to build biologically grounded scenes.

Key features

  • One-click PDB import by ID
  • Five display presets such as surface and cartoon
  • Geometry nodes membranes
  • Scatters molecules across surfaces
  • Automatic mesh cleanup and 3D-print prep
