Faux Lock
Developer: Poly Artboard
After Effects panel that makes chosen layers click-through in the viewport while staying editable in the timeline.
What Faux Lock does
Faux Lock from Poly Artboard solves a common annoyance in After Effects: adjustment layers, guides and mattes that swallow clicks meant for the layers beneath. It makes selected layers click-through in the Comp viewport while still fully selectable and editable in the Timeline.
Switching is automatic: selecting a target in the Timeline frees it, and clicking the viewport locks it again. A multi-target panel can add, lock, hide, select or remove many layers at once. A native real-time engine tests the cursor live on macOS universal and Windows, and a quick toggle pauses everything.
Key features
- Click-through layers in the Comp viewport
- Automatic click-driven lock switching
- Multi-target panel for many layers
- Native real-time cursor hit-testing
- Quick on/off toggle
