Foot Lock

Blender add-on that locks character feet to remove foot sliding from motion capture animation.

What Foot Lock does

Foot Lock, from Red Belly Media, cleans up the foot sliding that often plagues motion capture, especially from lower budget setups such as Kinect or iPiSoft Motion Capture Studio. Three buttons lock a character's feet in place.

An NLA strip is generated automatically and scaling it sets the lock duration. Foot placement is refined by moving and rotating the empty tied to each lock. Editing is non-destructive, leaving the original mocap data intact, and it handles IK rigs, FK rigs or a mix of both.

Key features

  • Three-button foot locking
  • Automatic NLA strip sets lock duration
  • Adjust placement via locked empties
  • Non-destructive to mocap data
  • Works with IK, FK or mixed rigs
