What Link Tools does
Link Tools detects duplicated geometry in Blender and gives several ways to consolidate it. Instancing links object data, which improves scene performance and cuts memory use in large scenes that contain many repeats.
Find Duplicates selects every duplicate of the active mesh. Merge Selected combines them and creates an origin at the center of the result. Group Selected builds a parented group on a plain axis empty, with Select All Groups to reselect, and Create Instance links the active mesh's data to selected meshes, with an option to unlink instances. Artists cleaning up heavy imported scenes will benefit.
