Maya Groups - Industry Standard Grouping

Developer: hodgson3d

Adds Maya-style groups to Blender by attaching the selection to a freshly created empty.

What Maya Groups - Industry Standard Grouping does

Maya Groups brings familiar grouping behavior to Blender. Selected objects are parented to a new empty, so the whole set can be moved, rotated, scaled or edited as a single unit.

The group operator lets you set location and rotation from its redo panel. A pie menu opens from the 3D view or the Outliner, and separate operators add objects to or remove them from a group. A useful fit for artists coming from Maya.

Key features

  • Group operator using an empty as parent
  • Pie menu in 3D view and Outliner
  • Add to and remove from group
  • Location and rotation set in the redo panel
