PORTAL
Developer: I Am Jon Duncan
Keeps the master comp visible and in sync while editing nested pre-comps in After Effects.
What PORTAL does
PORTAL, by I Am Jon Duncan, solves the problem of losing sight of the full picture when working deep inside pre-comps in After Effects. One click inserts a time-remapped guide-layer version of the master comp into the pre-comp you are editing.
Syncing is context aware, so pre-comps stay aligned even if moved on the timeline, and the portal can be rebuilt with all references updated in one click. Nested comps are supported without changing the project's internal structure. The guide layer is non-destructive and safe for final renders, and the master comp's position, rotation and scale are translated into any pre-comp, however deep.
