PowerCoreTools: 3ds Max's CPU management tool
Developer: spacefrog
3ds Max script that lowers CPU contention during renders by setting process priority and core affinity, then restoring your original values.
What PowerCoreTools: 3ds Max's CPU management tool does
PowerCoreTools manages CPU use during rendering in 3ds Max, controlling how the process is prioritized and which cores it runs on. When a render starts it sets the process priority and core affinity, and when the render ends it puts the original settings back, so nothing has to be reconfigured by hand.
The goal is a workstation that stays usable while a long render runs, for example letting a second 3ds Max session carry on with other work. An optional transparent No-UI mode can launch right after 3ds Max starts, the ART renderer is supported, and tooltips explain each control in detail. It is meant for artists who already understand CPU priorities and affinity.
Key features
- Render priority and core affinity set when rendering begins
- Restores original CPU settings after rendering
