Powerpin

Pins a character's feet during ground contact and bakes the result to remove foot sliding.

What Powerpin does

Foot sliding is a common flaw in walk cycles, especially when a character travels across a scene. Powerpin detects when each foot touches the ground and holds it in global position, then bakes the corrected motion.

A tolerance value lets it work even when the animation lacks precise flat ground keys. You can set the start and end frames and the bake step, and a trim option for the contact range is provided. Animators cleaning up locomotion in Blender will find it a quick alternative to manual fixes.

Key features

  • Pins feet automatically at ground contact
  • Tolerance setting for imprecise walk cycles
  • Adjustable bake range and bake step
  • Trim Contact Range option
