What Preselect does
Made by Blender Guppy, Preselect makes picking big areas of faces much faster in Blender. It was created as a companion for the Random Flow mesh generator, but its selection commands also work perfectly well on their own.
Hover a face and press a shortcut to grab every connected flat face up to a sharpness limit, a whole face island, or all faces lying on the same plane. Select-all and deselect-all commands skip face detection, and a colored overlay in object mode marks what is chosen and what is not, which is handy before extruding regions.
