pt_ImportSubtitles
Developer: Paul Tuersley
A script that imports Encore, SRT and WebVTT subtitles into After Effects or Premiere Pro with an optional backing box.
What pt_ImportSubtitles does
pt_ImportSubtitles by Paul Tuersley reads subtitle files and turns them into timed text layers in After Effects, and is also usable with Premiere Pro. Supported formats are Encore, SubRip SRT and WebVTT.
An optional black box can sit behind the text, with adjustable size, colour, opacity and an absolute vertical position. It builds a composition in the format suited to your output and includes Title Safe guides to help positioning. There are two routes for delivery: render with an alpha channel for use in your editing software, or place video beneath the subtitle layer in After Effects and render. Editors who need burned-in subtitles can save hours of typing.
