Pylinking
Developer: olanders.se
Blender add-on that links outside .py files so scripts written in VS Code can run in Blender under Git control.
What Pylinking does
olanders.se's PyLinking lets you develop Blender scripts in an external editor. Linked .py files execute inside Blender, so you can write in Visual Studio Code or another editor you prefer.
The files live in a folder that GitHub can read and write, which gives proper version control. A 2023 update creates a new file when a referenced name has no match. Blender releases 2.81 to 4.0 are supported. Technical artists and add-on authors will find the workflow more professional.
Key features
- Links external .py files into Blender
- Use Visual Studio Code or another editor
- Files stored in a GitHub-friendly folder
- Creates a new file for unmatched names
