RetroDither
Developer: BGRA Entertainment
GPU dithering plugin with palettes from retro consoles and home computers like C64 and Apple II.
What RetroDither does
RetroDither gives footage and graphics the look of vintage game systems and early computers. Running on the GPU in After Effects and Premiere Pro, it reduces colours to authentic palettes and applies classic dithering patterns.
Twenty palettes are provided, including palettes named after hardware, like CGA, ZX Spectrum and C64, that copy original limits, as well as adaptive ones. Twelve dither methods include error diffusion (Floyd-Steinberg, Jarvis-Judice, Stucki, Atkinson, Burkes, Sierra, Stevenson-Arce) and ordered Bayer. Downscaling up to 8x, a threshold slider, grayscale pre-conversion and serpentine scanning add extra control.
