Light Painter
Developer: SMagnusson
Blender add-on for painting where light should fall; it then creates and positions the lamps for you.
What Light Painter does
Light Painter reverses the usual lighting routine in Blender. Instead of moving lamps around and checking the result, you draw on the scene where you want light or shadow to land and the add-on adds and places the lights for you.
It supports all lamp types, mesh lights as convex hulls and tube lights, and sky textures, with flags for casting shadows. Lamp distance, power and size can be tuned with keyboard shortcuts in the modal tools, and a utility adds a basic procedural gobo node setup for lamps in Cycles. Lighting artists can block in lighting quickly.
Key features
- Paint light and shadow directly in the scene
- All lamp types supported
- Mesh lights as convex hulls and tube lights
- Keyboard shortcuts for distance, power and size
