What Mat Assign does
Mat Assign lets you move materials between objects right in the 3D Viewport. Hover over an object, press the hotkey, and left-click to copy or right-click to paste, without selecting anything first.
Objects with no material get a new Principled BSDF generated automatically, keeping their original viewport color. The approach saves the repeated selecting and dragging that normally goes with material assignment, which is useful when dressing scenes with many parts.
