Stipple
Developer: Rowbyte
Creates temporally coherent stippled versions of footage in After Effects using a physics simulation.
What Stipple does
Stipple from Rowbyte renders footage as a field of dots, with the pattern determined by the image beneath. Dots are placed through a physics simulation, so they settle and move coherently from frame to frame instead of flickering.
External layers can supply colour maps, sprites can be randomised, and processing runs through a GPU pipeline. It suits artists making illustrative, engraved or pointillist treatments of video and titles inside After Effects.
Key features
- Temporally coherent stippling driven by footage
- Patterns built by a physics simulation
- External layers as colour maps
- Randomize sprites option
