Stretch
Developer: irrealix
Smears pixels along curves set by a pair of masks in After Effects, with ramp, noise and strip controls.
What Stretch does
Stretch by irrealix is an After Effects plug-in that drags an image's pixels along curves you define with two mask shapes. The result is the streaked, elongated look common in abstract title cards and transitions.
It works in two modes, stretching either along or across the masks, and a Stretch Ramp gives precise control over how far pixels travel. Noise and ramp distortion can be animated through Noise Offset, a Strips Random Factor adds detail, and an Opacity Ramp fades the streaks. A single click sets up a seamless loop, and a wireframe view with an adjustable count of base mesh points shows the geometry. Motion designers get a fast route to flowing pixel trails.
