Conformal_Channel_(New Version)
Developer: Tom Paul
Blender add-on that builds cooling channels hugging a mesh, for boolean-cut molds suited to 3D printing.
What Conformal_Channel_(New Version) does
Molds made through additive manufacturing often need cooling channels that follow the part's contours. Tom Paul's Conformal_Channel produces such channels in Blender so they can be subtracted from a mesh with boolean operations.
Three channel flavours, Mod1, Mod2 and Mod3, are provided, and the shapes come from implicit modelling with Metaball objects; Mod2 and Mod3 blend smoothly. A custom panel gathers the parameters in one place. Engineers, makers and researchers experimenting with printable tooling can iterate on layouts without hand-building tubes.
Key features
- Conformal channels around mesh objects
- Three channel types: Mod1, Mod2, Mod3
- Metaball-based implicit modelling
- Smooth blending in Mod2 and Mod3
- Custom panel for channel parameters
