Normal Scanner
Developer: Blace Plugins
Estimates normal maps from video footage for relighting and VFX passes in After Effects and Premiere Pro.
What Normal Scanner does
Normal Scanner derives surface normal maps directly from video, using blace.ai technology. The maps can be made from ordinary footage or tuned for human characters, giving compositors a pass they would otherwise need a 3D render or scan to obtain.
It pairs with the Normality plugin for quick relighting. A Window Size parameter improves temporal stability and can be raised as far as your GPU allows, and out-of-memory conditions now produce clearer feedback. It works in After Effects and Premiere Pro.
Key features
- Normal maps from generic footage
- Specialised estimation for human characters
- Works with Normality for relighting
- Window Size setting for temporal stability
- Better out-of-memory feedback
