Scatter Tools
Developer: rode3d
3ds Max plugin that arranges, randomizes and redistributes objects already in the scene over surfaces, points or splines.
What Scatter Tools does
Scatter Tools places existing scene objects rather than cloning a source. It scatters your selection over a distribution surface or defined points, and avoids particle systems or bindings, so objects remain fully accessible with no dependency on the plugin.
Placement works in five ways: over the entire surface, according to face direction, by auto-populating furniture, onto vertices or spline knots, or at object pivots. The furniture algorithm places books, toys and decor on tables, desks and shelves without collisions, and collision detection applies to every method. Switch Places swaps objects to try layouts, and Randomize Transforms varies position, rotation and scale. Groups and three pivot options are supported, helpful for visualization, animation and game art.
