Composite Brush
Developer: Vranos
Selects colours by clicking footage in After Effects, then recolours them, edits alpha or pulls a matte.
What Composite Brush does
Composite Brush by Vranos is an After Effects effect that works like a colour picker with built-in actions. Click and drag across the image to build a selection, hold a modifier to mark colours you do not want, and then decide what happens to the chosen pixels.
Transfer modes such as Hue, Saturation, Luminance, Normal and HSV change the selection, alpha operations increase, stencil or silhouette alpha, and restore options bring the original pixels back. Matte types from Hard to Hair set edge falloff, with choke, blur, invert and level controls for refinement. It suits keying hair, glass or smoke, and runs on After Effects CC 2019 through 2025.
