TurboTriSmooth
Developer: Marius Silaghi
3ds Max subdivision modifier for triangle meshes that gives smoother surfaces and better topology than TurboSmooth.
What TurboTriSmooth does
TurboTriSmooth is a modifier by Marius Silaghi that subdivides triangle meshes in 3ds Max. Compared with the standard TurboSmooth, it yields smoother results and nicer topology, which matters for models that cannot be easily converted to quads.
Models are triangulated automatically before subdivision, and the modifier is aimed at things like cloth, scans, decimated or terrain meshes, fluid simulation results and other triangle-based geometry. Semi-sharp creases, driven by edge crease values and smoothing groups, arrived in version 1.02. Supported releases run from 3ds Max 2013 to 2024, and 2027 is also listed, all in 64-bit.
Key features
- Subdivides triangle meshes with smoother, cleaner topology
- Automatic triangulation before subdivision
- Works on scans, cloth, terrain and decimated or simulated meshes
- Semi-sharp creases from edge values and smoothing groups
- Supports 3ds Max 2013 through 2027 (64-bit)
